Calder Construction and shop fitting ltd For fifteen years Calder Construction has been the preferred contractor of choice for the maintenance and shop fitting of the Aldi chain of supermarkets for the Middleton and Neston Regions, covering approximately 125 stores. This culminated this year in being appointed to work with a team of subcontractors to completely refit 92 of the stores to new layouts required by the Aldi operations team. Two teams of seven shop fitters were assembled, one team for each area, and the installations were completed through the night so as not to interrupt trade. Six to eight stores per week were successfully completed during the 15 week programme. Our shop fitting expertise has also been recognised and employed by other high profile customers most notably Manchester Airport and the Royal Mail. In February of 2009 we completed the internal finishings to the visitors centre and hangar for the new museum to house Concorde at Manchester Airport which included the shops, meeting rooms, offices and corporate facilities including the restaurant area. We were also employed to complete the groundworks, drainage and surrounding landscape features on this new and exciting project. 2009 also saw the completion of eight projects in Post Offices for the Royal Mail. Key Property Solutions a division of Bowmer Kirkland employed us on Post Offices in the North of England and North and South Wales to complete the Royal Mails new initiative in rebranding all of their main Post offices. These were completed to programme during nights and weekends and involved a major reshape to the internal layouts of the chosen branches whilst keeping them operational at all times. As a result of our work KPS also awarded us contracts on the upgrades to schools in the Derbyshire area involving internal refits and decoration and some landscaping work. The expertise within the Company enables us to provide turn key solutions from the ground upwards on Projects up to one million pound in value.
